The Northumberland Joint Musculoskeletal and Pain Service (JMAPS).
Patients in Northumberland with musculoskeletal conditions or persistent pain can access The Northumberland Joint Musculoskeletal and Pain Service (JMAPS).
Specialist staff including musculoskeletal physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, specialist nurses and rehabilitation therapists can assess, advise and support you to manage your condition with the aim of improving your health and wellbeing.
DMARD monitoring service
If you are being prescribed disease modifying drugs, usually for arthritis from your hospital consultant, we are able to carry out your regular blood tests and arrange repeat prescriptions once we have had notification from your consultant.
We can remove small lumps and bumps and give injections. Please make an appointment to see a doctor to discuss this.
Smoking cessation advice
Our practice nurses are able to advise you on how to give up smoking, encourage and monitor you and also discuss and prescribe medical treatments to help. Ask at reception for a double appointment.
Well woman checks
General health checks are available including all aspects of family planning, breast awareness, gynaecological problems, cervical smears and management of the menopause. Blood pressure, cholesterol checks, weight reduction, smoking, alcohol and exercise are all discussed.
Family planning and contraception
We offer confidential contraceptive and family planning advice and services during normal surgery hours.
This includes emergency contraception, the fitting of contraceptive devices (coils), condom information and pre-conception advice.
Child immunisation clinics are held at Rothbury Community Hospital every Wednesday afternoon. Any other questions please contact the surgery of health visitor on 01669 622781.
We offer a full range of vaccinations for foreign travel. Please arrange an appointment with the practice nurse for any advice about travel health. Ideally, appointments should be made eight weeks prior to travel or three months if you are backpacking.
Please collect a travel form from the surgery or download from the link below and hand the completed form into the surgery.
Some vaccinations are available on the NHS, however some vaccinations for overseas travel are not paid for by the NHS.
For any private medical examinations for insurance/employment purposes, please contact reception to arrange an appointment. A fee will be charged as these do not come under NHS terms of service.
